The Meeting of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People with the heads of diplomatic missions.
The meeting of the presidence of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People with the heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations took place on October 5th, 2011 in Kiev.
The Development Fund for Crimea became the official organizer and sponsor of the far-reaching meeting with the diplomatic corps. The preparation of the event took more than 4 months.
The meeting was attended by ambassadors of the USA, UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as by the official delegation of the OSCE, Ambassador of the European Union, the heads of UN, ILO, WHO, UNICEF agencies.
The main aim of the event was to discuss the initiative of the International Forum dedicated to the problems of restoration of rights of the Crimean Tatars in their homeland, providing the security and guarantees of its development in Ukraine to the Crimean Tatars.Active debate on this issue, which began after the presidence delivered its speech, has confirmed its actuality.
The President of the Fund Rustem Umerov took part in the event and was extremely satisfied with the fact that the Fund had been able to prepare and to hold this historical meeting on a high level. He also expressed his willingness to become the official organizer of this event in the next year, as far as many ambassadors consider that the event should become regular:
“Meetings like this bring to attention the most important questions. They help us understand how challenging can be the international co-operation and solidity today. The meeting with the ambassadors is a tool that is in demand both for Ukraine and Crimea, and for the diplomatic community, as far as it provides an opportunity of alive relationship and direct and timely responses. We are glad to organize that sort of a dialogue” – said the president of the Fund.
